There are a number of careers open in the video or online gaming industry, and if you are a fan of games, then it can be choice for finding work in one of the many small to large companies that make up the industry. For me, one key attraction of video games is the story, and the game I played this past summer, The Last of Us, it was one of the things I enjoyed about playing the game.
To research the job role you are interested in, there are many websites where you can look up jobs and job descriptions, as well as going directly on to company websites to see what jobs are available.

Japanese-language Searches and Sites
If you are located in Japan, and are studying Japanese, it:s worth doing a search in Japanese to find companies and paths for bilingual roles that you can aim for.
Search term on Google: ゲーミング業界 ge-mingu gyoukai

And many others, but reading them can turn up vocabulary and phrases that are good to study and can point the way to jobs once you get better in Japanese.
Interactive links on resumes and building a portfolio
Showing creativity and ideas in the job search is a differentiator when you are interviewing for jobs I believe. One member of a meetup I run is kind enough to share his latest projects in animation and design for characters which is fun to see, and hear his experience in gaming companies. I think putting links in your resume to your portfolio of work can offer an aid to reviewers interested in your skills, whether the projects were part of work or as a side project or hobby.
Changing Jobs in Gaming
Whatever your situation, whether you are starting out or already in the gaming industry, there are resources online to at least consider and weigh up in order to plan your next step.

Unity
Unity is a cross-platform game engine developed by Unity Technologies, first announced and released in June 2005 at Apple Inc.'s Worldwide Developers Conference as a Mac OS X-exclusive game engine. As of 2018, the engine had been extended to support more than 25 platforms. The engine can be used to create three-dimensional, two-dimensional, virtual reality, and augmented reality games, as well as simulations and other experiences.[4][5] The engine has been adopted by industries outside video gaming, such as film, automotive, architecture, engineering and construction.
