Does the ‘why’ correlate to the ‘where’ you want to work?
Some people I have met have wanted to work in the US, UK, EU or other countries where English was spoken and where there is an advanced economy with a variety of jobs. The common point was an interest in the culture of the country they wanted to live in, and some experience with the people that sparked their interest in working overseas.
While you might have a friend or acquaintance who lives in a country and be interested to experience their culture, some other people are interested in the culture from books, movies or other sources of information.
Travel to a foreign country could be the start of an interest in learning more about another culture that ends with a desire to live overseas and experience that culture more directly. Whether as a student or for pleasure, getting some experience living in a foreign culture before committing to a long-term stay can help explore how strong the feeling is, and whether it is likely to be a positive experience.
